Kate Hosford left a career as an elementary school teacher to study illustration at Pratt Institute. She works in gouache, watercolor and cut paper.
Her influences include Persian miniatures, Matisse, Romare Bearden, historical textiles, and folk art. She has done educational, editorial, and children's book illustration. She lives and works in Brooklyn with her husband and two sons.
